Western Digital has announced the launch of a new portable hard drive called the My Passport Slim. The drive is available in a 1 TB capacity and new 2 TB capacity, both featuring a slim metal enclosure and hardware-based encryption.
The hardware-based encryption is 256-bit to keep your data safe if the drive is lost or stolen. The drive uses a USB 3.0 connection and is USB 2.0 compatible. Dimensions for the storage device are 4.33 x 3.14 x 0.48-inches long making it easy to take with you on the go.
The drive is covered by three-year warranty and 1 TB version is available for $99.99. The 2 TB version of the drive wasn’t on the Western Digital website at the time of writing, but will sell for $149.99. Neither version of the drive needs a power adapter for operation getting all power and connectivity from the USB port.
