
VIA has this week unveiled a new addition to their range of rugged Android tablets with the launch of the new VIA Viega which has been designed to be used at POS stations and where a normal consumer tablet might not last too long.
The VIA Viega is fitted with a touchscreen 10 inch display offering a 1280 x 800 pixel resolution and is powered by a 1.2 GHz ARM Cortex-A9 dual-core processor supported by 1GB of RAM and Mali-400 graphics.
The rugged Android tablet comes supplied running Google’s Android Jelly Bean 4.2 operating system and is equipped with 2 x micro USB ports, 1 x micro HDMI port and 2 megapixel front facing camera for video calling, together with a 5 megapixel rear facing for video and photographs. Epan Wu, Head of the VIA Embedded Platform Division, VIA Technologies explains :
