An innovative vertical bed concept has been created, that provides a new slant on traditional comfy sleeping arrangements and allows you to sleep while standing in the street. The design created Brooklyn based inventor Jamie O’Shea simply attaches to a subway ventilation grate using, two vertical legs. Which then provide it with the strength required to support your weight as you take a quick nap.
The vertical bed has been designed to be easily dismantled and fits within the briefcase allowing you to carry it around to use whenever required. It even comes equipped with noise cancelling headphones, opaque glasses and freestanding umbrella to keep you dry or out of the sun, depending on the weather.
To prove that the vertical bed concept actually works, O’Shea tested out his design on Broadway and 33rd Street in New York, taking a 40 minute nap at 6:00 pm, then again at four hour intervals. Unfortunately as the design is still currently a concept there are no details on whether the vertical bed will actually make it to production.
