Twitter has recently introduced a new feature for both mobile apps, Android and iOS, as well as web application which give users the ability to mute people.
This way, users get more control over the content they see in their timeline, removing the stuff they tweet or retweet from your timeline.
Today we’re beginning to introduce a new account feature called mute to people who use our iPhone and Android apps and twitter.com. Mute gives you even more control over the content you see on Twitter by letting you remove a user’s content from key parts of your Twitter experience.
There are users who you add to your favorites list and enable device notifications so that you receive a push notification or SMS when that user tweets or retweets anything from your home timeline. Similarly, you can mute less favorite users so the useful content have more space in your timeline.
To mute a user using the iOS/Android app or the web app, simply click/tap on the “more” button and click Mute user. This is a very handy feature for many Twitter addicts who are following a large number of people.
