Volvo’s performance division have just announced their first vehicle, the Polestar 1 and it certainly looks impressive from the pictures.
The Polestar 1 is a 2+2 Grand Tourer Coupe, the vehicle is built in Volvo’s Scalable Platform Architecture (SPA), although 50% of the car is new and bespoke.
This new coupe from Polestar is powered by a 2.0 litre petrol engine and a new double electric motor system which drives the rear wheels. The combine power plants give this new Polestar coupe around 600 horsepower and a 0 to 62 miles per hour time of just over 3 seconds
The company plans to make just 500 of the new Polestar 1, although they have not revealed any pricing as yet. Instead of paying a one off fee for the car, it will be sold for a monthly subscription on either a two or three year contract.
The subscription will be for a fixed term of two or three years. At the end of the contract, the customer simply returns the car, or Polestar collects it and delivers their next Polestar experience. Polestar will then refurbish the vehicle and prepare it for a secondary subscription as a high-quality pre-owned Polestar car.
“Our vision is that the Polestar subscription model and services that we will offer will define the Polestar brand as much as our cars will. Services that exceed the needs, desires and expectations of the premium performance car customer are at the heart of Polestar, removing the inconvenience of ownership and allowing customers to purely concentrate on the pleasure of driving a Polestar car,” said Jonathan Goodman, Chief Operating Officer of Polestar.
As yet there are no details on exactly how much you will have to pay per month for the Polestar 1, you can find out more details over at Polestar at the link below.
