The office IMSA twitter account has posted up a video that gives us a listen to the new mid-engine Corvette C8.R racing car as it laps road Atlanta. The car sounds glorious. It has a different sound to the V8 than you might expect from an American car.
The C8.R has a 5.5-liter V8 engine that makes 500 horsepower and 480 pound-feet of torque. The car is rear-wheel-drive and uses a paddle-shift 6-speed sequential transmission. The street car C8 will use a 6.2-liter V8 that makes 490 horsepower and 465 pound-feet of torque.

The street car uses an 8-speed dual-clutch automatic. The first time the C8.R will be driven in the competition will be at the Rolex 24 in Daytona this coming January. The street Vette lands in showrooms in early 2020, starting at right under $60,000.
