UK supermarket Tesco has launched a new app for Google Glass, the app is designed to let you browse goods, add items to your shopping basket, view nutrition information and more.
The Tesco Google Glass app is called Tesco Grocery, the application was developed by Tesco Labs and the application will work with their customers’ existing online account.
Features of the Tesco Grocery App
The Tesco grocery app for Google Glass can add items to their shopping list in a number of ways, this can be done using voice search or by scanning the product’s barcode with Google Glass. This innovative approach allows users to seamlessly integrate their shopping experience with cutting-edge technology, making grocery shopping more efficient and enjoyable.
One of the standout features of the app is its ability to provide detailed nutritional information about products. This is particularly useful for health-conscious consumers who want to make informed choices about what they are purchasing. By simply looking at a product, users can access a wealth of information, including calorie content, ingredients, and potential allergens.
“At Tesco we want to ensure we have the means in place to allow customers to shop whenever, however they want which is why we’re testing the possibilities of customers topping up their online basket with Glass,” said Pablo Coberly, innovation engineer at Tesco Labs.
Enhancing the Shopping Experience
The Tesco Grocery app is not just about convenience; it also aims to enhance the overall shopping experience. For instance, the app can suggest complementary products based on what is already in the user’s basket. If you add pasta, the app might suggest a suitable sauce or cheese to go with it. This feature can help customers discover new products and make meal planning easier.
Moreover, the app supports personalized shopping lists. Users can create and save multiple lists for different occasions, such as weekly groceries, party supplies, or holiday shopping. These lists can be easily accessed and modified, making it simple to keep track of what you need.
Another exciting aspect of the app is its potential for future integration with other smart devices. Imagine a scenario where your smart refrigerator detects that you are running low on milk and automatically adds it to your Tesco Grocery app shopping list. This kind of integration could revolutionize the way we manage our household supplies.
The app also includes a feature for locating items within a Tesco store. If you are physically shopping in a Tesco supermarket, the app can guide you to the exact aisle and shelf where a product is located. This can save a significant amount of time, especially in large stores.
