Tag Heuer have announced that they will launch their new Tag Heuer smartwatch in New York on the 9th of November.
The news was announced by the company’s CEO Jean-Claude Biver in a recent interview with CNBC. The device will come with Google’s Android Wear.
Tag Heuer Carrera Wearable 01
We previously heard that this new smartwatch would be called the Tag Heuer Carrera Wearable 01, which gets its name from the Tag Heuer Carrera 01 that was made official at Basel World 2015 earlier in the year. The Carrera series has always been synonymous with precision and luxury, and the Wearable 01 aims to bring that same level of craftsmanship to the smartwatch market.
Jean-Claude Biver also revealed that the device will be sold at $1,800. This price point places it in the luxury smartwatch category, competing with other high-end smartwatches like the Apple Watch Edition and the Montblanc Summit. The Tag Heuer Carrera Wearable 01 will come with an Intel processor, ensuring robust performance and seamless multitasking capabilities. Additionally, it will run on Google’s Android Wear OS, which is known for its user-friendly interface and extensive app ecosystem.
Combining Tradition with Technology
It will be interesting to see what Tag Heuer comes up with, as the device is expected to merge the technology of a traditional Swiss watch with that of a smartwatch. This fusion of old and new is not just a marketing gimmick; it represents a significant step forward in the evolution of wearable technology. Traditional Swiss watches are renowned for their intricate mechanical movements and timeless design, while smartwatches offer connectivity, fitness tracking, and a host of other features.
The Tag Heuer Carrera Wearable 01 aims to offer the best of both worlds. For instance, it is expected to feature a high-resolution OLED display that mimics the look of a traditional watch face, complete with customizable dials and complications. This allows users to enjoy the aesthetic appeal of a classic watch while benefiting from modern functionalities like notifications, GPS, and heart rate monitoring.
Moreover, the use of premium materials such as sapphire crystal, stainless steel, and possibly even ceramic will ensure that the smartwatch is not only functional but also durable and stylish. The inclusion of an Intel processor suggests that the device will be capable of handling complex tasks, from running multiple apps simultaneously to providing real-time updates and alerts.
Another exciting aspect is the potential for customization. Tag Heuer has hinted that the Carrera Wearable 01 will offer various strap options, allowing users to personalize their watch to suit their style. Whether you prefer a leather strap for a formal look or a rubber strap for a sporty vibe, the Carrera Wearable 01 aims to cater to diverse tastes.
The smartwatch market is becoming increasingly competitive, with numerous brands vying for consumer attention. However, Tag Heuer’s entry into this space brings a level of prestige and heritage that few other brands can match. The company’s expertise in watchmaking, combined with cutting-edge technology, could set a new standard for luxury smartwatches.
We will have more details when it is announced in November. Until then, the anticipation continues to build, and it will be fascinating to see how the Tag Heuer Carrera Wearable 01 is received by both traditional watch enthusiasts and tech-savvy consumers alike.
