T-Mobile in the UK has started to offer the Apple (AAPL) iPhone 3G to its high end customers, although this is not an official deal with Apple as yet, T-Mobile has already started to offer and unlocked version of the iPhone 3G to certain customers who spend more than £75 a month.
The deal is being offered to T-Mobile customers who threaten to leave T-Mobile, and T-Mobile are offering the iPhone 3G to them to get them to stay with the network, it seems there will one be 150 units available to T-Mobile customers per week.
This certainly is very interesting, I wonder if other mobile operators will start offering the iPhone 3G this way, O2 have responded with a short statement confirming that they still have exclusivity for the iPhone.
We have a multi-year agreement with Apple to sell iPhone in the UK. This relationship continues.
It will be interesting to see how this develops, surely it is about time that Apple offered the iPhone 3G to other networks, it would be nice to see some competition in the iPhone market with cheaper price plans and better deals for customers.
