System76 has this week taken the wraps off a new Bonobo Extreme Linux gaming laptop which follows on from the launch of the first Linux Ubuntu all-in-one PC the Sable Complete back in October.
The Bonobo Extreme Linux gaming laptop is equipped with a full-HD 17.3″ backlit display, powered by a i7-3940XM Extreme Processor @ 3.00GHz if your budget will stretch.
Lower down the options a Intel i7 @ 2.6Ghz (Quad core) processor can be fitted, with options offering 8GB of RAM, 500 GB 7200 RPM HDD and nVidia Geforce GTX 670MX 3GB. Other features include a backlit keyboard large clickpad with rubberised palm rests, 5 x USB 3.0, Ethernet, and card reader.
Carl Richell, System76′s CEO and Founder, explains that the Bonobo Extreme is the “world’s fastest Ubuntu laptop”, explains that Valve’s impending Steam Linux arrival the reason behind launching a “new benchmark in gaming performance”. The base model of the System76 17.3 inch Bonobo Extreme Linux gaming laptop is now available to purchase for $1500.
