Starry has redesigned the humble router and created a smart router called the Starry Station that is capable of visible showing you the connections it has and even helps correct issues when they might appear.
The Starry Station wireless router is now available to pre-order and is priced at $350 and will officially go on sale February 5th with shipping expected to take place during March 2016 and is aiming to provide the most advanced router to date to consumers.
The creators of the Starry Station explain a little bit more about its features and functionality.
Starry Station IQ takes the guesswork out of troubleshooting. All of your devices are represented by either a blue or a red orb: Blue means healthy, red means trouble. And the larger an orb is, the more data it’s using. If there’s a problem, Starry surfaces it and tells you how to fix it.
With a simple glance, you’ll be able to see your health score and find out if there’s even the slightest issue with your service, Wi-Fi conditions, or any of your devices. When Starry senses that you’re near, the screen changes to show you an overview of your Health Score, Internet speed, and online devices. Starry dynamically runs frequent Speed Tests, so you’ll know if you’re getting the speed you’re paying for.
Starry gives you a real-time view of all your connected devices (blue is healthy, red is not) and what’s using the most data. Have lots of devices? Toggle between the Activity Map and List Mode to find what you’re looking for. Help your kids learn to balance their time on- and offline with network-level parental controls. You can use presets such as School Nights and Weekends or create your own rules around when certain devices are restricted and when they can be used.
By dynamically monitoring your Internet health, speed, and connectivity, Starry shows you trends over time. Suspect your Wi-Fi is slow at 6 p.m. every day? Curious about the speed you’re getting? With day- , week- , and month-long data views, the answers are at your fingertips.
