Some of our readers will remember the Spring Design Alex eReader that was announced back in October of 2009. Good news if you have been waiting to get your hands on one, as the Alex eReader has now gone on sale in the US.
The Spring Design Alex is available to order for $399 from Spring Design, and you will be able to pre-order one later today and it will ship in the middle of April.
The Alex eReader is a dual screen device, it features a 6 inch E-Ink EPD display and a 3.5 inch color LCD display, and it runs on Google’s Android OS.
It measures 4.7 inches by 8.9 inches and is about half an inch thick, with a weight of about 11 ounces. The Alex eReader connects to Google’s bookstore and users have access to over one million books.
It also features support for some Google Android applications, and it features a built in web browser and a WiFi connection. It certainly does look like one of the more interesting e-readers that we have seen. Have a look and our article on Android vs iPhone to see which smartphone and mobile platform is best for you.
