Samsung has announced today that it will be the first TV manufacturer to add a Spotify service to its Smart TV, Blu-ray players and home theatre systems, via the addition of a new Spotify app.
Once the new Spotify service app arrives Samsung device owners will be able to test the service for free for a limited time, and existing Spotify Premium subscribers will immediately have access to all the playlists.
Pascal de Mul, Global Head of Hardware partnerships, Spotify, explained in today’s press release:
“It’s our dream to make all the world’s music available instantly to everyone, everywhere, and bringing our service to Samsung Smart TVs is taking us another step closer to turning this dream into reality,”-“The television is at the heart of most people’s home entertainment experience, so it is a natural fit to make our music service available on internet-connected Smart TVs.”
The new Spotify application is expected to roll out before the end of the year on Samsung’s smart TV 2012 E Series televisions.
