Sony has announced their latest update to their PS3 firmware, version 3.10, which will bring a range of new features to the PlayStation 3, one of which is Facebook.
The Facebook feature on the PS3 will let you link your PlayStation Network account to your Facebook account, and you can even set it up so that your PS3 will automatically update your Facebook news feed with Trophy and PlayStation Store Activity. This integration aims to enhance the social experience for gamers, allowing them to share their gaming achievements and activities seamlessly with their friends and family on Facebook.
Enhanced Social Connectivity
This update also enables developers to set specific criteria in their titles to publish additional game information to your News Feed. For example, if you achieve a high score in a game or unlock a rare trophy, this information can be automatically shared on your Facebook profile. This feature not only keeps your friends updated on your gaming milestones but also fosters a sense of community and competition among gamers.
You can then check out your updates, and those of your friends, on Facebook, Twitter, and other social media favorites through the PS3’s built-in web browser. This means you don’t have to switch devices to stay connected with your social networks, making the PS3 a more versatile entertainment hub.
Additional Features in Firmware 3.10
Other features in the update include a revamped photo category on the XMB (XrossMediaBar), which makes it easier to organize and view your photos. The new layout is more intuitive and user-friendly, allowing you to create slideshows and view your images in high resolution. This enhancement is particularly useful for those who use their PS3 as a multimedia device, not just for gaming.
Additionally, the update brings a modified PSN friends list. The new friends list design includes larger avatars and more detailed information about each friend, such as their current status and recent activities. This makes it easier to keep track of what your friends are up to and join them in games or other activities.
The firmware update also includes various performance improvements and bug fixes, ensuring a smoother and more stable user experience. These enhancements demonstrate Sony’s commitment to continually improving the PS3 platform and providing users with new and exciting features.
