Ever since Sony announced the Sony NGP we have been wondering how much this new handheld gaming console will retail for, unfortunately we still don’t have exact details from Sony on this.
It seems that Sony wanted to keep the NGP price as low as possible, and ended up dropping a range of features from the Next Generation Portable before the final specifications were announced.
Sony recently talked to the guys over at , and this is what they had to say about the pricing on the NGP.
“I can’t talk about a definitive price at this stage. But since the very beginning we had a target in mind. So, when considering various features, we always had our price range in mind.
“There were elements that we found pretty cool, but had to set aside to remain on target. It’s a big lesson we learnt from the PS3. There’s no point putting everything you want into a device and doing the math later. We always had the price and consumer in mind. We had to sell something that people could buy
There are no details on what was exactly dropped from the NGP, but this information gives us the idea that Sony wants to price the NGP competitively and not make it expensive when compared to other portable consoles.
