Last week, Samsung introduced the Tizen-based Samsung Z4 which comes with entry-level specifications on board.
Recently, the company announced that Samsung Z4 will launch in India on May 19th carrying a price tag of INR 5,790.
The Samsung Z4 comes with a 4.5-inch WVGA LCD display, a 1.5GHz quad-core processor paired with 1GB of RAM, 8GB of internal storage coupled with a microSD card slot for expansion, 5MP front and rear facing camera, a 2,050 mAh battery and is the first device to ship with Tizen 3.0 operating system out of the box. Connectivity options include dual-SIM smartphone with 4G LTE connectivity as well as Wi-Fi, GPS, Bluetooth 4.0, microUSB port, and a 3.5mm headphone jack.
Design and Build Quality
The Samsung Z4 features a compact and ergonomic design, making it easy to hold and use with one hand. The device’s build quality is solid for an entry-level smartphone, with a plastic body that feels sturdy and durable. The 4.5-inch display, while not the largest or highest resolution on the market, is sufficient for basic tasks such as browsing the web, checking emails, and using social media. The WVGA resolution ensures that text and images are clear and readable, although it may not be ideal for high-definition video playback or gaming.
Performance and Usability
Under the hood, the Samsung Z4 is powered by a 1.5GHz quad-core processor and 1GB of RAM. While these specifications may seem modest compared to mid-range and flagship devices, they are adequate for the Z4’s intended use as an entry-level smartphone. The device handles everyday tasks such as making calls, sending messages, and browsing the internet with ease. The inclusion of Tizen 3.0 as the operating system provides a smooth and responsive user experience, with a user-friendly interface that is easy to navigate.
The 8GB of internal storage may be limiting for users who need to store a large number of apps, photos, and videos. However, the presence of a microSD card slot allows for expandable storage, giving users the flexibility to increase their storage capacity as needed. This is a valuable feature for those who want to keep their device clutter-free and organized.
The 5MP front and rear cameras are basic but functional, allowing users to capture decent photos and videos in good lighting conditions. While the camera performance may not rival that of higher-end smartphones, it is sufficient for casual photography and video calls. The 2,050 mAh battery provides enough power to get through a full day of moderate use, making the Z4 a reliable companion for daily activities.
Connectivity and Additional Features
The Samsung Z4 offers a range of connectivity options, including dual-SIM support, 4G LTE, Wi-Fi, GPS, Bluetooth 4.0, a microUSB port, and a 3.5mm headphone jack. The dual-SIM functionality is particularly useful for users who need to manage two phone numbers, such as for work and personal use. The 4G LTE connectivity ensures fast and reliable internet access, allowing users to stay connected on the go.
The inclusion of Tizen 3.0 as the operating system is a notable feature, as it provides a unique alternative to the more common Android and iOS platforms. Tizen 3.0 offers a range of customization options and features, including a user-friendly interface, efficient multitasking, and support for a variety of apps and services. This makes the Samsung Z4 an interesting choice for users who want to explore a different mobile operating system.
The handset comes with mediocre specifications and is just an entry-level device with a low price tag so it can be a good spare handset to carry around. It is also an excellent option for first-time smartphone users or those looking for a budget-friendly device that covers all the essential features without breaking the bank.
