It would appear that Samsung’s smart watches are becoming more popular, as according to a recent report by Strategy Analytics, Samsung managed to ship 500,000 Galaxy Gear devices in the first quarter of 2014.
The 500,000 smart watches shipped by Samsung in quarter one are for the original Samsung Galaxy Gear device, which runs Android and not the newer Gear 2 range which run Tizen.
Samsung launched their second generation range of smart watches in April, this included the Samsung Gear 2, the Samsung Gear Neo and the Samsung Gear Fit.
Both Sony and Samsung are the only major manufacturers who have smart watches on the market at the moment, although we are expecting a number of new ones over the next few months.
LG will announce the new LG G Watch later this month, there is also the new Moto 360 which is expected in July, and the Apple iWatch which is rumored to launch in September.
