We previously heard a rumor that the new Samsung Galaxy S9 and S9 Plus would feature improved facial recognition. According to a recent report, Samsung is also working on a new iris scanner for their handsets.
According to a recent report by the Korea Herald, next years Galaxy S9 and S9 Plus handsets will have an improved iris scanner that will make it more effective at recognizing people’s eyes. The camera on the Galaxy S8 comes with a 2 megapixel sensor, the camera on the Galaxy S9 will feature a 3 megapixel sensor.
We know that the design of the new Galaxy S9 and S9 Plus will be similar to the Galaxy S8 handsets. The two devices will features similar size display although there will be a slimmer bezel on the new handsets.
The new Samsung Galaxy flagships will come with the latest high end processors, this will differ by region with the US getting the Qualcomm Snapdragon 845 and some other countries will get the new Samsung Exynos 9810 processor. The handset is rumored to come with 6GB of RAM as standard, there may also be an 8GB of storage option.
Samsung recently announced their new 512GB storage option for smartphones so we are expecting the new Galaxy S9 and S9 Plus to offer storage options from 64GB up to 512GB. Samsung are expected to launch their new handsets at mobile world congress in February, they should hit retail some time in early March.
