Official Launch and Pre-Order Details
Samsung is holding a press conference on the 29th of March where they will make their new Galaxy S8 and S8 Plus handsets official. This event is highly anticipated, as the Galaxy S8 series is expected to bring several innovative features and improvements over its predecessors.
Previous rumors have suggested that Samsung will start taking pre-orders for both devices on the 10th of April and will then start selling the handsets worldwide on the 21st of April. This timeline aligns with Samsung’s typical release strategy, allowing them to build up hype and ensure a smooth rollout across various markets.
Expected Features and Specifications
The Galaxy S8 and S8 Plus are rumored to come with a host of new features. One of the most talked-about aspects is the display. Both models are expected to feature a bezel-less, edge-to-edge “Infinity Display,” which will offer a more immersive viewing experience. The S8 is likely to have a 5.8-inch screen, while the S8 Plus could boast a larger 6.2-inch display.
Under the hood, the devices are expected to be powered by the latest Qualcomm Snapdragon 835 processor in the U.S. and Samsung’s own Exynos 8895 in other regions. This should provide a significant boost in performance and efficiency compared to previous models. Additionally, both phones are expected to come with 4GB of RAM and 64GB of internal storage, expandable via microSD card.
Camera capabilities are also expected to see improvements. The rear camera is rumored to be a 12-megapixel sensor with enhanced low-light performance and faster autofocus. The front-facing camera is expected to be an 8-megapixel sensor with improved facial recognition features.
Another significant change could be the relocation of the fingerprint sensor to the back of the device, next to the camera module. This is due to the removal of the physical home button to make way for the larger display. Additionally, the Galaxy S8 series is expected to feature an iris scanner for added security.
Samsung is also likely to introduce a new AI assistant named Bixby, which will compete with other virtual assistants like Apple’s Siri and Google Assistant. Bixby is expected to offer advanced voice control features and integrate deeply with Samsung’s ecosystem of apps and services.
In terms of design, the Galaxy S8 and S8 Plus are expected to be available in several colors, including Black, Silver, and a new Violet option, as mentioned by Roland Quandt. This variety will give consumers more choices to match their personal style.
Overall, the Samsung Galaxy S8 and S8 Plus are shaping up to be impressive devices that could set new standards in the smartphone industry. With their official launch just around the corner, it won’t be long before we get to see these highly anticipated handsets in action.
