Samsung recently announced their new Samsung Galaxy S4 smartphone which comes with a range of impressive specifications and features, and now according to a recent report by IHS, the Samsung Galaxy S4 costs around $244 to build.
The $244 figure comes from an estimated $236 in parts and $8 in labor to out each handset together, the report also says that the Samsung Galaxy S4 costs the company around $30 more to make than the previous generation Samsung Galaxy S3.
“Although its hardware is not radically different from the Galaxy S III introduced in April of 2012, the Samsung Galaxy S4 includes some critical component updates that enhance its functionality as well as its BOM cost,” said Vincent Leung, senior analyst for cost benchmarking at IHS. “Among the upgrades are a larger, full high-definition (HD) display; a beefed-up Samsung processor; and a wealth of new sensors that set a record high for the number of such devices in a smartphone design. And despite the larger display and other changes, the Galaxy S4 has roughly the same width and the same ease of handling as the Galaxy S III.”
The US version of the Samsung Galaxy S4 comes with a quad core Qualcomm Snapdragon 600 processor clocked at 1.9GHz, the international version of the S4 features an 8 core Samsung Exynos 5 Octa processor with a clock speed of 1.6GHz.
The Samsung Galaxy S4 features a 5 inch Full HD Super AMOLED display with a resolution of 1920 x 1080 pixels, and it features Android 4.2.2 Jelly Bean, it also comes with 2GB of RAM
The Galaxy S4 also come with a 2,600 mAh battery, the device also comes with dual cameras with a 2 megapixel front facing camera and a rear facing 13 megapixel camera, plus a choice of 16GB, 32GB or 64GB of built in storage and a microSD card slot.
