The new Samsung Galaxy S11 is apparently codenamed ‘Hubble’. The handset will come with a high-end camera which is rumored to have an impressive 108 megapixels. Now it looks like the name ‘Space Zoom’ will be used with the camera on the device.
Sammobile has discovered that Samsung has recently filed a trademark for the Space Zoom name at the European Union Intellectual Property Office.
What is Space Zoom?
The filing relates to software for the handset’s camera. Here is the exact wording of the filing: ‘software for use in smartphones, … mobile telephones and cameras, namely, software to zoom in to a subject without lowering image quality.‘ This indicates that the Space Zoom feature will allow users to zoom in on subjects without compromising the image quality, a significant advancement in smartphone camera technology.
The Space Zoom feature is expected to leverage advanced algorithms and possibly AI to enhance the zoom capabilities of the camera. This could mean that users will be able to capture distant objects with remarkable clarity, making it ideal for photography enthusiasts and professionals alike.
Expected Launch and Additional Features
The Samsung Galaxy S11 handsets are expected to launch in the first quarter of 2019, either in February or early March. This launch timeline aligns with Samsung’s usual release schedule for its flagship devices.
In addition to the Space Zoom feature, the Galaxy S11 is rumored to come with several other cutting-edge technologies. For instance, the device is expected to feature a larger battery, possibly around 4,500 mAh, to support the high-performance camera and other power-intensive features. The handset may also come with a new Exynos or Snapdragon processor, depending on the region, which will offer faster performance and better energy efficiency.
Moreover, the Galaxy S11 is likely to include an improved display with a higher refresh rate, possibly 120Hz, providing a smoother user experience. The device may also support 5G connectivity, ensuring faster internet speeds and better network performance.
Another exciting rumor is the potential inclusion of an under-display front camera, which would eliminate the need for a notch or hole-punch design, offering a truly uninterrupted display. This would be a significant design improvement and could set a new standard for future smartphones.
The camera setup on the Galaxy S11 is also expected to include multiple lenses, such as ultra-wide, telephoto, and possibly a macro lens, providing users with a versatile photography experience. The inclusion of advanced features like optical image stabilization (OIS) and enhanced night mode could further elevate the camera’s performance.
