Samsung has announced that their first 5G smartphone, the Samsung Galaxy S10 5G, will be coming to the UK on the 7th of June.
The handset will be available with EE and Vodafone at launch, and it is also expected to be made available on other networks in the future. This marks a significant step in the rollout of 5G technology in the UK, promising faster download and upload speeds, lower latency, and a more reliable connection, especially in crowded areas.
Enhanced Features of the Galaxy S10 5G
Differentiating the Galaxy S10 5G from the rest of the Galaxy S10 range is an array of enhanced features. The device’s 6.7-inch Dynamic AMOLED display is the Galaxy S Series’ largest smartphone display ever, allowing customers to fully immerse themselves in dazzling HDR10+ content to benefit from an incredible mobile viewing experience. This expansive screen is perfect for streaming high-definition videos, playing graphically intensive games, and multitasking with multiple apps open side by side.
The Galaxy S10 5G also features a new 3D Depth Camera on both sides of the phone that uses Time of Flight (ToF) technology to judge depth and distance, taking your videos to the next level with Live focus. The 3D Depth Camera also offers Quick Measure functionality, allowing customers to instantly measure the distance, area, or volume of an object or space. This technology can be particularly useful for interior designers, architects, and DIY enthusiasts who need precise measurements on the go.
Performance and Battery Life
Under the hood, the Galaxy S10 5G is powered by the latest Exynos 9820 or Snapdragon 855 processor, depending on the region, coupled with 8GB of RAM and 256GB of internal storage. This ensures that the device can handle the most demanding apps and games without breaking a sweat. The phone also features a 4,500mAh battery, which is larger than the batteries found in other models in the S10 lineup. This substantial battery capacity is essential for supporting the power-hungry 5G connectivity and ensuring that the phone lasts through a full day of heavy use.
The Galaxy S10 5G also supports 25W Super Fast Charging, which means you can get hours of usage from just a few minutes of charging. Additionally, it includes Wireless PowerShare, allowing you to charge other Qi-compatible devices, such as earbuds or another smartphone, by simply placing them on the back of the S10 5G.
Software and Additional Features
The Galaxy S10 5G runs on Samsung’s One UI, which is based on Android 9.0 Pie. One UI is designed to make using large-screen devices easier and more intuitive, with features like Night Mode, which reduces eye strain in low-light conditions, and a redesigned interface that places interactive elements within easy reach.
Security is another area where the Galaxy S10 5G excels. It includes an ultrasonic fingerprint sensor embedded under the display, which is more secure and accurate than traditional optical sensors. The phone also supports facial recognition, providing users with multiple options for unlocking their device.
