Samsung Galaxy Grand Prime is very capable handset and ships with Android 4.4 KitKat as its operating system out of the box.
Previously, we heard that Samsung is testing the latest Android 5.0 Lollipop update for the Galaxy Grand Prime, and now it seems the update is rolling out in Russia, bumping the build version to G530HXCU1BOH3.
Unfortunately, it’s not Android 5.1.1 Lollipop but the Android 5.0.2 Lollipop — it’s likely that Android 5.1.1 will not make its way to the handset. The update comes with a number of improvements on board, as well as Lollipop-related color scheme and icons, and improved battery life for the handset.
The update is rolling out over-the-air and should reach the devices in Russia in the coming days. Don’t panic if you don’t see it right away as the process is gradual and takes a few days to complete. Alternatively, you can manually check for the update from Settings and upgrade your device to the latest operating system.
We’re hoping that Samsung will roll out the Android 5.0 Lollipop update for the Galaxy Grand Prime in other markets as well. If that happens, we’ll make sure to let you know.
