We had previously heard that Samsung’s smart watch would be called the Samsung Galaxy Gear, and now a trademark has been discovered for the Samsung Galaxy Gear.
Samsung has filed a trademark with the USPTO for the Galaxy Gear, and the listing describes the device as ‘Wearable digital electronic devices in the form of a wristwatch, wrist band or bangle.
The device is expected to feature the model number SM-V700, and we previously heard that Samsung may launch the device at IFA in Berlin in September at the same time as the new Samsung Galaxy Note 3.
Features and Specifications
The Samsung Galaxy Gear is anticipated to come with a variety of features that will set it apart from other smartwatches on the market. Early rumors suggest that the device will include a high-resolution display, possibly AMOLED, which will provide vibrant colors and deep blacks. Additionally, the Galaxy Gear is expected to have a built-in camera, allowing users to take quick snapshots on the go.
Connectivity options are likely to include Bluetooth, enabling the smartwatch to pair seamlessly with Samsung smartphones and tablets. This will allow users to receive notifications, control music playback, and even answer calls directly from their wrist. The Galaxy Gear may also feature various sensors, such as an accelerometer and gyroscope, to track physical activity and provide health-related data.
Potential Impact on the Market
The introduction of the Samsung Galaxy Gear could significantly impact the smartwatch market. Samsung is known for its innovation and high-quality products, and the Galaxy Gear is expected to be no exception. By integrating advanced features and ensuring compatibility with a wide range of devices, Samsung aims to attract both tech enthusiasts and everyday consumers.
The Galaxy Gear’s potential success could also spur further development in the wearable technology sector. Competitors may be prompted to enhance their own offerings, leading to a surge in innovation and improved products for consumers. This competitive environment could result in more choices and better prices for those interested in wearable tech.
