Apple’s display needs are big business for companies like Samsung and now according to a recent report, Samsung has assembled a specialist team to make display just for Apple.
Samsung have apparently assembled a team of 200 employees who are now working exclusively on making displays for Apple devices.
The 200 strong team at Samsung Display Co make displays for Apple’s iPads and MacBook’s and the team are only allowed to share information about Apple within the group.
Samsung and Apple appear to be getting on better after their lawsuits outside of the US came to and end and Apple is now Samsung’s largest external customer for displays and other parts.
“The new exclusive team for Apple implies that the relationship between Samsung and Apple has improved,” said Jerry Kang, an analyst at Englewood, Colorado-based researcher IHS Inc. “This also suggests that Samsung Display will win screen orders from Apple, such as for the Apple Watch.”
The Samsung Display business generates large amounts of revenue for Samsung, and by assembling a specialist team who will only work in Apple products, Samsung may be able to take some more of Apple’s business away from other display manufacturers.
