The Samsung Captivate, AT&T’s version of the Samsung Galaxy S, is finally available from AT&T in the US for $199 with a two-year contract, or for $499.99 without a contract.
The Samsung Captivate features a 4-inch AMOLED display, a five-megapixel camera, and a 1GHz processor. There is also 16GB of built-in storage, plus Bluetooth 3.0, USB 2.0, and integrated 802.11 b/g/n WiFi.
Display and Design
The 4-inch AMOLED display on the Samsung Captivate is one of its standout features. AMOLED technology provides vibrant colors and deep blacks, making it ideal for watching videos and viewing photos. The screen’s resolution ensures that text and images are sharp and clear, enhancing the overall user experience. The sleek design of the Captivate, combined with its lightweight build, makes it comfortable to hold and use for extended periods.
Camera and Multimedia
There is also a five-megapixel camera that can record HD video in 720p, allowing users to capture high-quality videos and photos. The camera includes various features such as autofocus, face detection, and geo-tagging, which enhance the photography experience. Additionally, the Captivate supports a wide range of multimedia formats, making it a versatile device for entertainment. Whether you’re listening to music, watching movies, or playing games, the Captivate delivers a robust multimedia experience.
The new SWYPE keyboard is designed to make inputting text much faster. SWYPE allows users to slide their finger from letter to letter, rather than tapping each key individually. This innovative input method can significantly speed up typing, making it easier to send messages and emails on the go.
The Samsung Captivate also includes several pre-installed applications and access to the Android Market, where users can download thousands of apps to customize their device. From productivity tools to games and social media apps, the Android Market offers a vast selection of applications to enhance the functionality of the Captivate.
In terms of connectivity, the Captivate is well-equipped with Bluetooth 3.0, which offers faster data transfer speeds and improved energy efficiency compared to previous versions. The USB 2.0 port allows for easy connection to a computer for file transfers and charging. Integrated 802.11 b/g/n WiFi ensures that users can connect to wireless networks quickly and reliably, whether at home, at work, or on the go.
The 1GHz processor ensures that the Captivate runs smoothly, even when multitasking or running demanding applications. Combined with 16GB of built-in storage, users have plenty of space for apps, photos, videos, and other files. For those who need even more storage, the Captivate supports microSD cards, allowing for expansion up to an additional 32GB.
Battery life is another important consideration for smartphone users, and the Captivate does not disappoint. The device is equipped with a 1500mAh battery, which provides ample power for a full day of typical use. Whether you’re browsing the web, streaming videos, or using GPS navigation, the Captivate’s battery is designed to keep up with your busy lifestyle.
