In an attempt to halt its failing foothold on the smartphone market RIM has invested in the purchase of mobile software company Cellmania who specialise in developing back-end systems for online mobile application stores.
Cellmania will be useful to RIM to help building app stores, to sell downloadable content and help push the adoption of Blackberry smartphones. In an attempt to stop the drop in RIM’s stock prices, which has fallen 26% since the beginning of this year.
Cellmania Chief Executive Ronjon Nag has previously worked for Motorola with a long history in mobile technology.
Lets hope this acquisition by RIM helps them regain a stronger standing in the smartphone market. But it not going to be easy when your up against Apple and Google.
