We recently managed to get our hands one one of the new iClooly aluminum stands for the iPhone 3G, so I thought it was about time to test it out and see how it works.
As iPhone stands go it’s pretty good, it certainly looked great on my desk, and is great if you want to watch a film at your desk.
It is finished in a nice brushed aluminum and has access to all the iPhone ports, plus a couple of buttons built in, one for volume and one for the on/off button.
It also comes with a headphone extender so that you can use any type of headphones with the stand, the version we tested was the 3G version, the fit seems a little tight for the 3G iPhone, and on a couple of occasions I did have a bit of trouble taking the iPhone out of the stand, it comes with a button on the back to release the iPhone.
The one thing that the iClooly iPhone stand is some sort of locking mechanism for the stand as it can be quite annoying if you are using it in portrait mode and trying to use the iPhone as it moves about a fair bit.
Overall if you are looking for an iPhone stand that will add a bit of style to your desk, and does a good job for watching movies then the iClooly is worth checking out.
