When it comes to gaming most of the gamers out there want a keyboard with mechanical keys that offers lots of tactile feedback. The problem is that most of the keyboards out there use membrane keys that don’t have the same sort of feedback. Razer has announced what it calls the world’s first mechanical gaming switch for keyboards that is designed specifically for gaming.
Razer’s new mechanical switches have an optimized set of actuation points that are designed to improve gaming. The keys require a force of 50g to activate. Razer also says that the switches reset at about half the distance of traditional mechanical switches. That means that users can double tap with more speed and precision. The keys may be made with gaming in mind, but Razer says that they are perfect for typing as well.
The keys are designed to withstand 60 million keystrokes compared to the 50 million keystroke design of most mechanical key switches. Razer designed these switches from the ground up on its own, but is having them made by a third party. Razer says that it has put its own QA team in place at the factory to ensure that its specifications are met.
