Raspberry Pi enthusiast Samuel Anderson has created a new add-on board specifically designed for the Raspberry Pi Zero to help make managing connected batteries even easier, and also provide a constant power supply to make sure your applications continue to function. Samuel started developing the JuiceBox Zero battery management board after searching for an existing solution to fit his needs but coming up empty-handed.
The JuiceBox Zero offers a genuinely portable battery solution that is both plug and play and fits the Raspberry Pi Zero’s small form factor footprint perfectly. When combined with the PowerBoost 1000c by Adafruit the power system provides a stable baseline power supply for projects. Check out the demonstration video below to learn more about its design and features.
The JuiceBox Zero add-on board includes a handy on-off switch, 4 Status Indicator LEDs for Charging, Charge complete, Power On, Low Batt notifications, mounting holes for a Pi Camera V2 or other breakout boards, standard Micro USB power input, dual power source input to enable both battery and cable power to work simultaneously together and finally a low battery safe shutdown feature. This is particularly useful when you need to make sure your data is secure and uses just one line of code to let you properly shutdown your Raspberry Pi Zero if the battery is too low to enable it to function.
The JuiceBox Zero is now available to back via Kickstarter with early bird pledges starting from just $19 and shipping expected to take place during April 2018. For more details and full specifications jump over to the official Kickstarter campaign page by following the link below.
