Makers, developers and hobbyists that wish they had more serial ports on their Raspberry Pi mini computer might be interested in a new Raspberry Pi UART Hat that has been created by Salicon Technologies.
Features of the Raspberry Pi UART Hat include : Dual full-duplex UART, Baud rates up to 921600, Auto hardware flow control using RTS/CTS and 64 bytes FIFO.
Together with fully programmable character formatting 5-bit, 6-bit, 7-bit or 8-bit character as well as even, odd, or no parity,1, 11⁄ 2, or 2 stop bits as well as offering support for all Raspberry Pi Model B and A system using a 26 Pin ribbon cable. Salicon Technologies explains :
“UART HAT is Add-on board for Raspberry Pi which provide two additional RS232 TTL serial ports with flow control which are both 5V and 3.3 V compatible in addition to the original Serial Port of Raspberry PI. Also the original serial of the Raspberry Pi is 3.3V Compatible so we have Voltage Level Converter on the HAT which Converts it into 5V and also there is an TTL to RS232 Level Converter With DB9 Port With Flow Control To connect Legacy Serial Devices.
