Raspberry Pi Plant Monitor Linked To Amazon Alexa

Raspberry Pi enthusiasts looking for inspiration for their next project may be interested in this new Raspberry Pi powered plant monitoring system, connected to Amazon’s Alexa personal assistant service. To help you keep your houseplants in tiptop condition.

The project uses both Arduino and Raspberry Pi technologies as well as using Alexa and should take no longer than 60 minutes to complete say’s its creator Renu Kumar from TeamNature. Classed as an “Easy” project full instructions have been posted to the Hackster.io website and all you require is a Pi 3 Model B, Arduino UNO and Genuino UNO, Photo resistor and Temperature Sensor to build it.

Once completed the system can measure the temperature and light intensity of the surrounding area around your plant helping it stay as healthy as possible. The Pi mini PC is set up as a server for Alexa the system can be seen in action in the videos below.

To build your very own Raspberry Pi powered plant monitoring system, jump over to the Hackster.io project website where creator Renu Kumar has kindly published full instructions, code and detailed plans on everything you need to create your very own plant monitoring system that can be expanded further with the addition of other sensors.
