Adafruit has this week announced the availability of a new product from their online electronic store in the form of the Pycom LoPy4 which is now available to purchase priced at $49.95. offering a wide variety of different connectivity options including Bluetooth, LoRa, SigFox and WiFi. Although the development board will need an extra antenna for use with LoRa and SigFox, as using it without an antenna can damage the board.
To help quickly develop projects and concepts the LoPy4 development board comes supplied with a built-in operating system that supports MicroPython, the lightweight cousin of the Python web programming language. Features of the Pycom LoPy4 include the ability for it to double up as a Nano LoRa gateway, pins that fit a standard breadboard when headers are attached, ultra low power usage and the LoPy4 includes two years of Sigfox connectivity out off the box. ” The wide choice of transports provides full flexibility during testing, install, deployment and even later when you want to switch how you send your data around” says Adafruit.
