Porsche is apparently working on a new supercar, the new supercar is codenamed the Porsche 988, and the company is looking to take on Ferrari and the Ferrari 458.
The company is apparently looking to address the concerns of many Porsche engineers, that the six cylinder Porsche 911 can not compete against the eight cylinder Ferrari’s.
As yet there are no details on the design of this new Porsche 988, although it is said to take some of its design cues from the Porsche 918 pictured above.
Porsche are apparently testing put a prototype eight cylinder engine for the Porsche 988, it is rumored to be around 4.0 liters and is said to come with a total of four turbo chargers.
The prototype engine on this new Porsche supercar is rumored to come with more than 600HP, whether it will come with that much HP when it goes into production, remains to be seen. The current Ferrari 458 Italia comes with 562HP, so Porsche will obviously be looking to top this with their new Porsche 988.
As soon as we get some more details on the new Porsche 988, including some actual pictures of this new supercar, some specifications, and performance figures, we will let you guys know.
