Developer of the awesome No Man’s Sky game, Hello Games. Has this week confirmed that a PlayStation Plus account will not be required to enjoy the new space exploration game on your PlayStation console.
Due to the enormous universe that can be explored within the game both Hello Games and Sony have considered No Man’s Sky to be a single-player experience due to the small chance of you ever meeting other players within the game.
After David Milner the Game Informer Australia editor reached out to Sony for more clarification a representative replied explaining :
PS Plus won’t be a requirement to play online, however you will need to connected to the internet for your discoveries to register with the universal atlas.
For those unfamiliar with the game the Atlas is the version of a leaderboard enabling players to leave indelible marks on the one-time procedurally generated universe.
