Sony has this week confirmed that it will be using PlayStation 2 emulation technology to make older PS2 games compatible with the next generation PlayStation 4 consoles.

Even though Sony has now officially confirmed the PlayStation 2 emulation software for PS4, but is remaining tight-lipped on its plans for the project. Stating
We are working on utilising PS2 emulation technology to bring PS2 games forward to the current generation. We have nothing further to comment at this point in time.
