At the Mobile World Congress today the new Panasonic Eluga we featured last week has now been confirmed by Panasonic to be running Android 4.0 Ice Cream Sandwich, and is fitted with NFC technology.

The Panasonic Eluga is equipped with a 5″ full touch screen display with a resolution of 1280 x 720 and powered by a tasty Qualcomm Snapdragon S4 1.5GHz dual-core processor. Its also fitted with a 8 GB integrated memory, and connectivity for Bluetooth 3.0, Wi-Fi 802.11 b/g/n, and GPS.

The Panasonic Eluga is also equipped with new battery technology that will charge the 1800mAh battery to 50 percent of its capacity from flat in just 30 minutes. The Camera on the Panasonic Eluga is an 8 megapixel autofocus fitted with a handy 8x digital zoom, with full HD 1080p recording and playback.

Toshiya Matsumura, General Manager, Head of Mobile Communications, Panasonic System Communications Europe explains:

“The Eluga power is a real landmark for us as it redefines everything a modern smartphone should be. In developing the Eluga power, we refused to compromise and remained ambitious.

That’s how we’ve managed to deliver the convenience of a 5-inch HD screen and superfast charging, make it water and dustproof, as well as add impressive features like NFC and a 1.5GHz processor. All in a slim, pocket-friendly and stylish smartphone.”

Unfortunately no information on pricing or worldwide availability has been released as yet, but as soon as information comes to light we will keep you updated as always.
