This week the Ouya console finally made its way into retail establishments online with stocks selling out almost immediately within Amazon in the UK and US.
However the Ouya console CEO Julie Uhrman has this week had to apologise to his Kickstarter backers after some didn’t receive a console on time and are still waiting for delivery.
In a backer-only update Uhrman explained Ouya console units were delivered to the company’s distribution partner in May and shipping was paid for, however some Ouya console early adopters which helped fund the console in the jump from concept to production have still yet to receive their Ouya console to play with.
“Some of you have not yet received your Ouya console – and, to you, I apologise,” she said. “I did not promise to ship to *most* of you before we hit store shelves. I promised to ship to *all* of you. I’ve been reading your comments, and we are working to solve this.
“We delivered your Ouya console to our partner in May, and since then they have been in their custody. We paid for shipping, yet the deliveries remain incomplete. We know everyone is getting their Ouya, but it is taking longer than we expected.”
Is now thought that all Ouya console Kickstarter backers will receive their consoles within the next two weeks or more but the company hopes to resolve the situation as quickly as possible and there is a team working to correct the delivery issues with early backers.
Ouya head of operations Ken Stephens explained that those who have received a Ouya console shipment confirmation should receive the console within 15-17 days after that date.
