The new OnePlus 5T smartphone was made official recently and it looks like the handset will replace the OnePlus 5. The company has now confirmed that the OnePlus 5 will be discontinued. The news was confirmed by Vikas Aggarwal, the general manager of OnePlus India.
He confirmed that the OnePlus 5T is replacing the OnePlus 5 and that when the existing device is sold out it will be discontinued. The news was confirmed and an interview with The Indian Express.
If you look at our previous phone, the OnePlus 3T the last batch was sold out during Diwali and now the product will be discontinued. The same goes for the OnePlus 5, which will also be sold out in sometime, and we’ll have only one product OnePlus 5T in the market. As a brand we want to make sure there is one device which is the latest, and the previous devices are usually sold out once the new product launches.
The company did exactly the same thing when they released the OnePlus 3T, they stopped selling their OnePlus 3 handset. The new OnePlus 5T comes with a range of new features and specifications over the handset that it is replacing.
