BD Solutions has created a new vehicle dongle called the OBDLink MX WiFi which has been created to allow easy connectivity from your smartphone to your car.
Once installed in your vehicle the OBDLink MX WiFi will connect to all the major smartphone operating system including iOS, Android and Windows and their are already a range of applications that can be used to monitor your vehicle performance and more.
Applications already available that are compatible with the OBDLink MX WiFi can carry out various tasks such as improving your gas mileage, remote start your car (on select vehicles), create a digital dashboard or a heads-up display, lock/unlock doors (on select vehicles) and clear the ‘Check Engine’ light, and investigate its cause, to name just a few. The OBDLink MX WiFi project is currently over on the Kickstarter crowd funding website aiming to raise enough pledges to make the jump from concept to production, its creators explain a little more:

Another element of the system, the OBD port, allows you to access the network for troubleshooting or other purposes.
The obdCANex app uses MX’s advanced network support,.enabling you to control door locks and remotely start the engine on select GM vehicles. Use OBDLink MX with the Dash app and unlock enhanced performance, cost savings, and social driving.”
