Anyone looking for a more convenient way to capture your surfing exploits whilst out at sea using a GoPro action camera, may be interested in a new GoPro surfboard mount which has been designed by Ian McDonnell.
The Nosebone attaches your GoPro to the nose of your surfboard or SUP, giving a much more artistic viewing angle, when compared to a standard action cam mount. Check out the video below to learn more and see it in action.=
An important part of having a strong connection is making sure the curved attachment surface contacts your board completely. Over the past year, we’ve found that it will fit most boards with just a simple shift forward or backward along the center. To accommodate the few cases where the mount doesn’t quite match, we’ll be shipping the mounts without the tape affixed. That way you can easily sand the attachment surface to the right shape if you need to.
It’s worth noting that the Nosebone is not designed to be used on your barrel-chasing thruster. You’ll get the best results on days shoulder high or smaller, with a board that has slightly flatter rocker. While I originally designed this mount for a longboard, it’s also great for your mid-length, fish or paddle board – we’ve even stuck one on an Alaia! Whether you’re in the surf, cruising the lake, or working on your SUP yoga practice, you’re going to want to film it with a Nosebone!
The Nosebone Surf & SUP Mount will be made in the USA using an aluminum injection-mold. While this requires a bit of finishing work, it will allow us to go into production much faster and at a fraction of the cost.
