Nikon has this week added a new top-of-the-range flash to their line of products, with the launch of the Nikon Speedlight SB-910 flash, which has been designed using Nikon’s Creative Lighting System technology.
The Nikon SB-910 Speedlight Flash comes fitted with a wide zoom range, covering the most popular focal lengths as well as FX/DX-format identification, to optimize its zoom settings based on the camera body it’s used with.
Advanced Features and Functionality
Nikon’s SB-910 flash has also been equipped with a new Thermal Cut-Out function, to provide protection against damage to the flash body and panel from overheating during continuous flash use. This feature is particularly beneficial for photographers who engage in extended shooting sessions, ensuring that the flash remains operational and safe to use without the risk of overheating.
Additionally, the SB-910 includes improved user interface and controls, making it easier for photographers to navigate through settings and make quick adjustments on the fly. The flash also supports three illumination patterns: standard, even, and center-weighted, allowing photographers to tailor the light distribution according to their specific needs and shooting conditions.
Enhanced Performance for Professional Use
Lisa Osorio, general manager of marketing at Nikon, explains:
“As Nikon’s new flagship speedlight, the SB-910 provides exceptional high performance and versatility that users have come to value in Nikon’s Creative Lighting System,” – “By addressing the needs of photographers that work in challenging lighting scenarios, the SB-910 delivers a new level of portable lighting functionality, with performance and intelligent features that adapt to a wide range of lighting challenges.”
The SB-910 is designed to be compatible with Nikon’s i-TTL (intelligent Through-The-Lens) flash control, which ensures accurate flash exposures in a variety of lighting conditions. This makes it an ideal choice for professional photographers who require reliable and consistent lighting for their shoots. The flash also offers a high-speed sync mode, allowing for faster shutter speeds and greater creative control over depth of field.
Moreover, the SB-910 is equipped with a built-in bounce card and a wide-angle diffusion panel, providing additional flexibility for diffusing light and achieving softer, more natural-looking results. The flash head can also be tilted and swiveled, enabling photographers to bounce light off walls and ceilings for more creative lighting effects.
The Nikon SB-910 Flash will be arriving in stores and online, sometime in mid-December 2011 for around $550. This price point reflects the advanced features and professional-grade performance that the SB-910 offers, making it a valuable investment for serious photographers.
The Nikon Speedlight SB-910 is a powerful and versatile addition to Nikon’s lineup of flashes. With its advanced features, improved user interface, and robust performance, it is well-suited for both professional photographers and enthusiasts who demand high-quality lighting solutions. Whether you’re shooting portraits, events, or creative projects, the SB-910 provides the tools you need to achieve stunning results.
