NextComputing has added a new workstation PC to their range with the launch of the Vigor EX. This innovative workstation features a dual chassis design, with a shock-mounted internal chassis and a rugged external chassis, making it ideal for demanding environments.
It comes with a choice of a range of different specifications which include a built-in 17-inch monitor, a choice of Intel processors including an Intel Core i7 processor, and up to 48GB of RAM. This flexibility allows users to customize the Vigor EX to meet their specific needs, whether they require high processing power, extensive memory, or both.
Advanced Storage and Expansion Capabilities
The Vigor EX is designed to handle extensive data storage needs, with the ability to hold up to 7TB of hard drive storage. This makes it suitable for applications that require large amounts of data to be stored and accessed quickly, such as video editing, scientific research, and large-scale simulations. Additionally, the workstation includes seven full-sized PCI Express and PCI expansion slots, providing ample room for additional hardware components such as graphics cards, network cards, and other specialized peripherals.
The inclusion of a DVD writer and Ethernet connectivity ensures that the Vigor EX can handle a wide range of tasks, from data backup and transfer to network communication. This versatility makes it a valuable tool for professionals in various fields, including military, engineering, and media production.
“Our customers in the military and other demanding markets have for years relied on our Vigor series rugged workstations for their mission-critical applications,” says Bob Labadini, President & CTO of NextComputing. “The Vigor EX continues this tradition by packaging the latest COTS (Commercial Off-The-Shelf) motherboard technology in our durable dual-chassis design, while maintaining our commitment to quality and custom engineering services.”
Custom Engineering and Quality Assurance
NextComputing’s commitment to quality and custom engineering services is evident in the design and construction of the Vigor EX. The dual-chassis design not only provides enhanced durability but also helps to protect the internal components from shocks and vibrations, which can be critical in harsh environments. This makes the Vigor EX an excellent choice for field operations, mobile command centers, and other situations where reliability and ruggedness are paramount.
The use of COTS motherboard technology ensures that the Vigor EX is built with proven, reliable components that are readily available, reducing the risk of obsolescence and making it easier to maintain and upgrade over time. This approach also allows NextComputing to offer a high level of customization, tailoring the workstation to meet the specific requirements of each customer.
While no details on pricing have been provided, it is likely that the Vigor EX is positioned as a premium product, given its advanced features and robust construction. However, for organizations that require a high-performance, reliable workstation for mission-critical applications, the investment in the Vigor EX may be well worth it.
