Last week we saw some photos of the new reversible USB Apple Lightning cable which will launch with the iPhone 6, and now we have another photo showing the cable next to the current version.
The photo above was posted by Sonny Dickson, who has been accurate in the past with Apple leaks, so this is probably the new Apple Lightning cable that will ship with the iPhone 6.
The current Apple lightning cable features the USB connector at the bottom, this means it can only be inserted into a USB port one way, the new cable features the USB connector in the middle, which means it can be used both ways.
Apple’s existing Lightning cable is USB 2.0, the new lightning cable is expected to use the faster USB 3.0, although this has yet to be confirmed.
We can expect Apple to use this new lightning cable in all of the future devices, which will include both the 5.5 inch and 4.7 inch models of the iPhone 6, the iPad Mini 3 and the iPad Air 2.
Apple are rumored to make the new iPhone 6 official on the 9th of September, the handset is rumored to go on sale on the 19th of September, and we are also expecting to see some other new devices at Apple’s press event next month.
