Kobo has opened preorders today for its new Kobo Clara HD eReader, which is now available to purchase priced at $130 and will start shipping out to consumers just under a week’s time on June 5th, 2018. The Clara HD features a 6-inch 300-ppi E Ink touchscreen, offering the same sharpness as Kobo’s Aura One eReader and Amazon’s current Kindle Paperwhite eReader.
Measuring 157 x 111 x 8.3 mm in size, the Kobo Clara HD eReader supports a wide variety of different file formats. Including EPUB, PDF, MOBI, TXT, HTML, CBZ, and CBR, offering 14 in total together with 11 fonts and 50 font styles to choose from, making it easy to tailor your reading experience to your exact preferences. The Reader comes fitted with 8GB of storage capable of storing up to 6,000 eBooks, but unfortunately, Kobo has not equipped the eReader with a microSD card slot or a waterproof design.
“For those who like to stay up past their bedtime, ComfortLight PRO reduces blue-light exposure through the course of the day, so they can read even longer without it affecting their sleep. By setting a bedtime hour, the hue of the light mimics the sun’s natural progression (from a cooler to a warmer light). Readers can also choose to manually set the light settings based on personal preference. For Kobo Clara HD, the Kobo engineering team took the lighting design even further, to replicate a colour temperature that more closely reflects natural incandescent light sources when set at the warmer end of the spectrum; this was achieved by using a warm custom designed LED (2600K).”
