The model J105a is thought to be the new 4K Apple TV, this device with the same model name was first spotted back in February.
Previous References and Speculations
Back in March, references were also found to a new AppleTV 6,2, the current Apple TV is called AppleTV 5,2, so Apple is definitely working on a new TV device. The discovery of these references has fueled speculation about the features and capabilities of the upcoming device. The inclusion of HDR (High Dynamic Range) assets suggests that the new Apple TV will support HDR content, which offers better contrast and color accuracy compared to standard dynamic range.
The move to 4K resolution is a significant upgrade from the current 1080p resolution offered by the existing Apple TV models. This upgrade will allow users to enjoy a more immersive viewing experience, especially on larger screens where the difference in resolution is more noticeable. Additionally, the support for HDR will make the new Apple TV a compelling option for users who want to take full advantage of their 4K HDR televisions.
Expected Features and Launch
We are expecting Apple to unveil their 4K TV device at their iPhone 8 press event in September. This event is highly anticipated, not just for the new iPhone, but also for the potential announcement of other Apple products, including the new Apple TV. The timing of the event suggests that Apple is aiming to capitalize on the holiday season, making the new Apple TV available for purchase in time for the end-of-year shopping rush.
In addition to 4K and HDR support, there are rumors that the new Apple TV may come with a more powerful processor, possibly the A10X Fusion chip, which is currently used in the iPad Pro. This would provide a significant performance boost, enabling smoother navigation and better support for high-resolution content. There is also speculation that the new Apple TV could feature improved Siri integration, allowing for more advanced voice commands and better overall user experience.
Another potential feature is the inclusion of more storage options. The current Apple TV models come with either 32GB or 64GB of storage, which can be limiting for users who download a lot of apps and games. Offering larger storage capacities would make the new Apple TV more versatile and appealing to a broader audience.
As soon as we get some more details about the device, we will let you guys know. The anticipation for the new 4K Apple TV is building, and it will be interesting to see how it compares to other streaming devices on the market, such as the Amazon Fire TV and Roku Ultra, both of which already offer 4K and HDR support.
