We recently heard that Asus were working on a new Eee Pad Transformer 2 tablet, which is expected to launch in 2012, with Microsoft’s Windows 8, but now it seems that another version of the Eee Pad Transformer 2 tablet will launch later this year with Google’s Android OS, before the Windows 8 model.
According to a recent report from Digitimes, the Asus Eee Pad Transformer 2 will feature a quad-core processor, and considering that we heard yesterday that Asus were working on a new 13 inch Android based laptop that will use NVIDIA’s quad-core Kal-El processor, we suspect the news of a quad-core Android-based Eee Pad Transformer 2 is more than just a rumor.
Expected Features and Specifications
The Asus Eee Pad Transformer 2 is anticipated to be a significant upgrade over its predecessor. The inclusion of a quad-core processor, likely the NVIDIA Tegra 3 (Kal-El), is expected to deliver enhanced performance, making it one of the most powerful tablets on the market. This processor is designed to handle more intensive applications and multitasking with ease, providing a smoother user experience.
In addition to the powerful processor, the Eee Pad Transformer 2 is rumored to come with a high-resolution display, possibly a 10.1-inch screen with a resolution of 1280×800 pixels or higher. This would make it ideal for media consumption, gaming, and productivity tasks. The tablet is also expected to feature improved battery life, thanks to the energy-efficient architecture of the Tegra 3 processor.
Operating System and Software
The initial release of the Eee Pad Transformer 2 will reportedly run on Google’s Android OS, specifically Android Ice Cream Sandwich. This version of Android is known for its refined user interface and enhanced functionality, including improved multitasking, a new notification system, and better integration with Google services. Users can expect a seamless and intuitive experience, with access to a vast array of apps available on the Google Play Store.
Later in 2012, Asus plans to release a version of the Eee Pad Transformer 2 running Microsoft’s Windows 8. This version will cater to users who prefer the Windows ecosystem and require compatibility with Windows-based applications. Windows 8 is designed to offer a touch-friendly interface while maintaining the familiar desktop environment, making it a versatile option for both casual and professional use.
We don’t know as yet exactly when the Asus Eee Pad Transformer 2 will launch, although it could be some time in the fourth quarter of 2011. It is expected to launch with Android Ice Cream Sandwich, and as soon as we get some more information, we will let you guys know.
The dual-OS strategy by Asus is a smart move, as it allows them to cater to a broader audience. By offering both Android and Windows versions of the Eee Pad Transformer 2, Asus can attract users from different segments of the market, whether they are looking for a tablet for entertainment, productivity, or a combination of both.
The Asus Eee Pad Transformer 2 is shaping up to be an impressive device with its powerful hardware and versatile software options. Whether you are an Android enthusiast or a Windows user, the Eee Pad Transformer 2 promises to deliver a high-quality tablet experience. Stay tuned for more updates as we get closer to the official launch date.
