Officially, Dell has not released any specifications about the upgrade to their new mid-range Alienware M14x laptop, but a few specifications for their latest 14-inch gaming laptop have sneaked through the cracks and leaked already.
The new system, as thought, will be powered by an Intel Core i7-2820QM 2.3 GHz processor together with a 750GB, 7200RPM HDD or a 256GB SATA2, SATA3 SSD option. Gaming graphics power will be provided via a NVIDIA GT555M GPU and its onboard mobile connectivity via an LTE or WiMAX connection.

Display Options and Visual Experience
The gaming rig will also have two screen options offering either a 1366 x 768 display or a Full HD 1920 x 1080 LCD. The Full HD option is particularly exciting for gamers who demand high resolution and crisp visuals for an immersive gaming experience. The 1366 x 768 display, while not as high in resolution, will still provide a solid visual experience for those who may prioritize battery life or cost over maximum resolution.
In addition to the display options, the Alienware M14x is expected to feature Alienware’s signature customizable lighting system, allowing users to personalize their laptop’s appearance with a variety of colors and effects. This feature has been a hallmark of Alienware laptops, adding a unique touch that sets them apart from other gaming laptops on the market.
Performance and Connectivity
The Intel Core i7-2820QM processor is a quad-core powerhouse that will handle demanding games and applications with ease. Paired with the NVIDIA GT555M GPU, the M14x is expected to deliver smooth and responsive gaming performance, even in graphically intensive titles. The inclusion of a 750GB, 7200RPM HDD provides ample storage for games, media, and other files, while the 256GB SSD option offers faster load times and improved overall system responsiveness.
On the connectivity front, the Alienware M14x will support both LTE and WiMAX, ensuring that users can stay connected to high-speed internet networks wherever they go. This is particularly beneficial for gamers who participate in online multiplayer games or stream content, as a stable and fast internet connection is crucial for a seamless experience.
The laptop is also expected to come with a variety of ports, including USB 3.0, HDMI, and possibly even Thunderbolt, providing users with plenty of options for connecting peripherals and external displays. This versatility makes the M14x not only a powerful gaming machine but also a capable workstation for productivity tasks.
Let’s hope it’s not long before Dell starts shipping and it joins the ranks of the already upgraded Alienware M11x and Dell’s monster specification Alienware’s M17x.
The Alienware M11x, known for its portability and impressive performance in a compact form factor, has been a favorite among gamers who need a powerful machine on the go. Meanwhile, the Alienware M17x, with its 3D screen and Klipsch speakers, offers a premium gaming experience with top-of-the-line specifications and features. The M14x is expected to bridge the gap between these two models, offering a balance of performance, portability, and features that will appeal to a wide range of gamers.
