After previously unveiling their new Nest temperature sensor earlier this year, Google’s Nest company has now announced the availability of the new sensor for $39. The Nest temperature sensor has been designed to enhance your Nest smart thermostats by allowing them to check the temperature of individual rooms using Bluetooth connectivity.
Nest explains a little more about the inspiration behind the small temperature sensors designed to be positioned in rooms around your home. “Most homes aren’t the same temperature in every room. Maybe the living room gets too warm or the baby’s room is too cold. With the Nest Temperature Sensor, you can let your Nest thermostat know which room should be a certain temperature at a certain time of day. And that room will always be the most comfortable.”
The next temperature sensor measures just 50mm in diameter and 22.5mm in height weighing just 45g. The sensor is powered by one CR2 3V lithium battery which is capable of powering the sensor for up to 2 years. Features of the temperature sensor include the ability to work with the Nest Thermostat E or the 3rd generation Nest Learning Thermostat, make sure that certain rooms are the exact temperature you want them to be, providing the ability to prioritise rooms and the small temperature sensor can be placed anywhere, mounted to the wall or rested on a shelf.
