Mozilla is gearing up to explore alternative funding models for the web and will soon launch an online news subscription service that will be available for a monthly subscription fee of $5 per month. The subscription service is currently in its development stages and will offer a “Firefox Ad-free Internet” and has been created to provide third-party platforms with a way of improving the monetisation, joining the likes of the recently launched Apple news service and others.
Subscribers tom the new Mozilla News service receive access to audio versions of articles, bookmarks that are seamlessly synced across devices, exclusive top recommended reads, and an app that helps you find and finish great content, all without the distraction of advertising.
